Masters, be Mastered
God here forbade the making of carved images, sacred pillars, and engraved stones. It is really rather sad when a person has to look back into the past to remember a time when they were near to God and God was near to them in a conscious way. The making of an image is a sign of spiritual decline. There is a loss of consciousness of the presence of God, and yet deep within there is a yearning for God. So I make a substitute for God. Whenever a person starts making little shrines or memorials, it testifies to the fact that they lost a present, here and now, relationship with God. If your relationship with God is not richer, fuller, more blessed today than it's ever been, then you are in a backslidden state. If we have to talk about the "good old days" and our wonderful past experiences, then we aren't moving forward with the Lord. I want my experience with the Lord today to be the most blessed experience I've ever known. From glory to glory! Moving on into that fullness that God has for me.
