The end of an era: 158 races, 84 victories. The DTM season finale at Hockenheim in October 2011 marked the end of an era in the world's most popular touring car series: after 158 races in the DTM and ITC, the AMG Mercedes C-Class competed in its last ever race - and finished in first place with driver Jamie Green at the wheel. The car's impressive figures speak for themselves: with a total of 84 victories, it ranks as the most successful vehicle in the history of the DTM. "The C-Class came along at just the right time. It immediately enabled us to make a big step forward", recalls Klaus Ludwig, Germany's most successful touring car driver, remembering his former "company car". Mercedes-Benz gave the C-Class its DTM debut in the 1994 season, and it scored its first victory on just the second race weekend. By the end of the season it had brought home the drivers' title for Ludwig and the constructors' title for the brand. Now it is up to the AMG Mercedes C-Coupé to continue the success story in the 2012 season.
