2003-2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class

2003
Two brand new coupes with a dynamic pillarless design were introduced: The W209 CLK. The CLK320 had the familiar 215 horsepower vee-six, but the standard vee-eight had a larger, 5.0 liter engine. The new V8 produced 302 horsepower and 339 pound feet of torque. Convertible CLKs were still available, but only in the W208 body style. The new W209 was available with Distronic adaptive cruise control, Keyless Go, and Bi-Xenon headlamps. The CLK55 transmission received an "M" (manual) mode feature with shift buttons on the back of the steering wheel. One item of note, if the car reaches redline while in M mode, the transmission will upshift.

Prices for the new W209 were $44,565 for the CLK320, $52,865 for the CLK500 and $69,115 for the CLK55.

2004
The W209 Cabriolets replaced the W208s, and they were available in all three versions - the CLK320, CLK500 and CLK55. Active ventilated, multi-contour seats were introduced, and a special edition Saks Fifth Avenue's Key for the Cure CLK500 was available. vee-eight had a larger, 5.0 liter engine.

2005
The The CLK320 received a standard appearance package that included a sport shift knob with chrome trim and 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels with high-performance tires. Standard equipment on the CLK500 was upgraded to include new AMG five-spoke wheels, a rear spoiler, steering wheel attached gearshift buttons, and the 7-speed automatic transmission. All models received a redesigned center console.

The CLK55 received an upgraded steering rack, 18-inch Type IV AMG wheels, revised suspension components, quad exhaust tips (on the coupe only), larger brake rotors with 6-piston calipers in the front and 4-piston calipers out back, scratch resistant nano-paint and revised transmission logic. The transmission program change causes the rev limiter to interrupt power rather than upshift when redline is reached while in "M" mode.

The CLK320 coupe had a list price of $45,970, the CLK320 Cabriolet had a list price of $53,420, the CLK500 coupe listed for $54,470, the CLK500 Cabriolet listed for $61,970, the CLK55 coupe listed for $70,620 and the CLK55 Cabriolet listed $81,570.
