W208 CLK Factory Alignment Specs I'm going to yield to the seemingly endless requests (complaints that the factory charts are unreadable) and list the alignment specs for my car. My car is a CLK430 with US spec CLK55 springs (courtesy of Chappy). My personal specs differ a little from the factory. The factory specs are in the charts that follow. Before the new set of emails arrive; yes, I know. An alignment article that I wrote was published and I stated the dealer is usually the best option. "Usually" is the key word. Given a choice between Pep-Boys, Big-O, or some other chain store whose "tech" was working the grill at Fat Burger last week, the dealer is the better option.
The following are the factory specs as listed in the WIS: Front Camber Specs: Measure the front axle level and obtain the camber value from the table. Tolerance is plus/minus 20, maximum difference between left and right is 20. For example, if the front axle level is 20mm or 4.9°, the camber value is -0°39 ± (plus or minus) 20.±
Checking caster and assigning a table value:
Front toe is 0° 25 plus/minus 10 Rear Camber Specs: From the factory, rear camber adjustments are not possible. If substantial deviations in the rear axle camber are found, the cause may be one of the following: Too great a difference in vehicle level between the left and right sides of the vehicle. Bent camber strut. Accident damage to the floor frame. Level differences at the mounting points for the rear axle carrier between the left and right sides of the body. Experience shows that bending caused by an accident also has an effect on the toe. This chart is for camber based on vehicle level:
Rear toe in is 0° 33 plus/minus 7 |
